WHAT IS STIGMA?
Stigma surrounding mental health is the reason why so many suffer alone and are afraid to seek help. It involves the negative feelings and stereotypes associated with mental illness. These misconceptions and misinformation can deter others from offering support because they are not informed. Instead of feeling shame, let's provide support, and instead of isolation and silence, let's talk about it.
Breaking the stigma that surrounds mental illness will change the way our future generations live. We all have unfortunately grown up in a time when talking about our struggles is seen as a sign of weakness, and we therefore refrain from telling people how we truly feel. Breaking the stigma will encourage people of all ages to start being accepting of themselves and those around them, and will work towards making our world a better place.
